A Wild Night At My House
Another year has passed
And we're all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter
And winter seems much colder.
I rack my brain for happy thoughts,
To put down on my pad,
But lots of things,That come to mind
Just make me kind of sad.
There was a time not long ago
When life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand
About 'Living in the Past'.
We used to go to friends homes,
Baseball games and lunches.
Now we go to therapy,to hospitals,
And after-funeral brunches.
We used to have hangovers,
From parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches
And sleep the night away.
We used to go out dining,
And couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags,
Come home and take a pill.
We used to travel often
To places near and far.
Now we get backaches
From riding in the car.
We used to go out shopping
For new clothing at the Mall
But, now we never bother...
All the sizes are too small.
That, my friend is how life is,
And now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up...
Before you're too damn old!!

Chef
Alexa is from Zamboanga City, Southern Philippines. Her grandfather was from Pampanga and that’s where she learned
her craft at an
early age. She used to own a restaurant in Ortigas Ave. and was doing well but
opted to immigrate to Canada for a better future. She landed in Vancouver and
trained there as a Chef. She was there for 5 years, moved to Hamilton 3 months ago,
as Vancouver was too expensive. She plans to open a restaurant here in Hamilton
eventually.

This is the definitive
video that captured the mood of EDSA1 or the People Power Revolution of 1986. When this was shown on TV a few months after
the revolution, people were quite touched.
We may all
have our disappointments regarding EDSA. Nevertheless, here is the video which to me captures the purity and the idealism
of the time , at least before the politicians started to fail us. Notice that Mike De Leon situated the EDSA1 revolution to
the overall struggle of our independence which began before the American occupation.

Through the intervention of Jun Policarpio, President, Pilipino Basketball Association (PBA) and board member
of the Hamilton Filipino Community Centre, was able to arrange for four dialysis machines to be donated to four hospitals
in the Philippines.
