Bell mail guide
What you need
Your Bell Mail address
Your password
Your incoming mail server address (POP): pophm.sympatico.ca
Your outgoing mail server address (SMTP): smtphm.sympatico.ca
You must be connected to the Internet before you can proceed with the instructions below.
Step-by-step instructions: To launch the e-mail software, click the Mail icon in the Dock or double-click it from the Applications folder.
If this is the first time you've used Mail…
Click Continue in the New Account window and then proceed directly to step 4.
If this is not the first time you've used Mail…
Click the Mail menu, then click Preferences.
Click the Accounts icon at the top of the window.
Click at the lower-left corner of the Accounts window.
In the Account Type drop-down menu, click POP.
On the General Information page, click POP in the drop-down menu.
Type Bell Mail in the Account Description box.
Type your name and your Bell Mail email address in the appropriate boxes.
Click Continue.
Type your POP address in the Incoming Mail Server box: pophm.sympatico.ca.
Type your Bell Mail email address and password in the appropriate boxes.
Click Continue. Mail verifies that the information is correct. If there’s a problem, click Go Back and make sure you typed the information correctly.
Type the SMTP address in the Outgoing Mail Server box: smtphm.sympatico.ca.
Click the checkbox beside Use Authentication.
Type your Bell Mail email address and password once again in the appropriate boxes.
Click Continue. Mail verifies that the information is correct. If there’s a problem, click Go Back and make sure you typed the information correctly.
On the Account Summary page, click Continue.
On the Conclusion page, click Done.
Click the Advanced tab in the Accounts window.
In the lower half of the window, click the checkbox beside Use SSL. (the default setting is 995)
In the pull-down menu beside Authentication, click Password and close the Accounts window.
Click Save.
You can now use Mail to send and receive your Bell Mail messages.
If you have multiple email accounts
When composing new messages or replying to received messages, you can choose which email address your message is sent from.
Compose or reply to a message.
Beside Account click the address you want to appear as the sender of this message.
Click Send.
